OUR HISTORY

The Hoedspruit Rotary Club was chartered in October 2015 and the Club has Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) and Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) status, which means that there are substantial tax benefits to sponsors.

In the short period of its existence the club has accomplished the following:

  • Recognition as the youngest club to obtain a Rotary Global grant.
  • A Presidential Citation with Distinction award.
  • A cycle tour of 100 km through Big Five private game reserves which is our biggest fund raising event.

Our club was started by Rotarian John Lategan. John had moved to Hoedspruit from Haenertsburg and wanted to establish a club in his new home town. Hoedspruit Club remained a Provisional Club for about a year until a minimum of 20 members joined, as per the requirements of Rotary International.

This came about on 23 October 2015 under the sponsorship of the Rotary Club of Haenertsburg. The official Charter Dinner (picture) took place on 05 December 2015 and John Lategan became our first president.
